APT/Auto Air Permeability Tester – Latest 2025
The APT/Auto Air Permeability Tester is designed for fast, simple, and accurate determination of air permeability across a wide measuring range — covering all kinds of knitted, woven, non-woven, and coated fabrics as well as paper, film, and leather.
A test sample is placed on the clamping head and test parameters are set via the program-based software on the HMI. Pressing down the upper clamping arm starts the test automatically — the system self-adjusts and shifts nozzles as required. Results are displayed within seconds and an Excel report is generated automatically.
Reports can be output to USB for direct printing or shared across any network via LAN using VNC Software — making the APT/Auto the most connected air permeability tester for multi-user laboratory environments. With a test pressure range of 10 to 3,500 Pa and compliance with 12 international standards, it covers virtually every global test requirement.

Key Highlights
HMI Software with Excel Reports & LAN Output
Test parameters are set through program-based software on the HMI display. Results are automatically compiled into an Excel report — output directly to USB for printing or shared across a lab network via LAN using VNC Software, making the APT/Auto ideal for multi-user and networked QC environments.
Widest Test Pressure Range: 10–3,500 Pa
With a test pressure range of 10 to 3,500 Pa, the APT/Auto covers a far broader spectrum than most comparable instruments. This range supports testing from ultra-fine coated fabrics requiring low differential pressures to highly open nonwovens requiring high pressures — all on a single platform with 9 selectable measuring ranges.
9 Measuring Ranges Covering 11 International Standards
Nine pre-configured measuring ranges across five test head sizes (5, 20, 25, 38, and 100 cm²) allow every international test method to be satisfied without recalibration. Compliance with IS 11056, ASTM D737, ASTM D3574, EN ISO 9237, BS 5636, EDANA 140.1, JIS L1096-A, and TAPPI T-251 ensures global export testing readiness.
The APT/Auto offers a significantly wider test pressure range (10–3,500 Pa vs 0–1,000 Pa on the APT/E), program-based HMI software with Excel report generation, LAN network output via VNC, 9 pre-configured measuring ranges, and compliance with 11 standards including IS 11056, ASTM D3574, and EDANA 140.1. The APT/E is a compact, touch-screen-based model with 8-aperture auto positioning and a built-in thermal printer, suited for standard lab testing. The APT/Auto is the preferred choice for advanced, networked, or high-throughput laboratory environments.
After each test the APT/Auto automatically generates an Excel report with the test result, date, operator, pressure, and unit data. This report can be saved and printed via the USB port or transmitted to any computer on the network via LAN using VNC Software — eliminating manual data entry and enabling real-time remote access to test records.
The standard test area is 20 cm². Optional test head sizes of 5 cm², 25 cm², 38 cm², 50 cm², and 100 cm² are available. Different measuring ranges are pre-configured for each test area — for example, the 38 cm² head covers four separate unit ranges (cfm, cm³/cm²/s, m³/m²/min, m³/m²/h) to comply with the widest range of international test standards.
The APT/Auto operates across a test pressure range of 10 to 3,500 Pa — one of the widest available on any commercial air permeability tester. This broad range allows the same instrument to test everything from highly breathable sportswear fabrics (low pressure) to dense filter media and industrial nonwovens (high pressure) without requiring a different instrument or accessory set.
The APT/Auto complies with IS 11056-1984, AFNOR G07-111, ASTM D737, ASTM D3574, BS 5636, DIN 53887, EDANA 140.1, EN ISO 7231, EN ISO 9237, JIS L1096-A, and TAPPI T-251. This 11-standard coverage makes it suitable for textile, nonwoven, paper, and industrial fabric testing across India, Europe, USA, Japan, and other global markets.
Yes. After the operator sets test parameters on the HMI and presses the clamping arm, the APT/Auto automatically adjusts the machine and shifts nozzles as required for the selected test configuration — no manual intervention needed. This eliminates operator-to-operator variability and ensures consistent results regardless of who performs the test.
The APT/Auto is widely used in woven and knitted fabric manufacturing (comfort and breathability), technical textile and nonwoven production (filtration, geotextiles, medical nonwovens), leather and coated fabric QC, paper and packaging labs, and foam and cushioning manufacturers (ASTM D3574 for flexible cellular materials). Its wide pressure range and multi-standard compliance make it the preferred choice for accredited test laboratories.
The APT/Auto requires 220V at 50Hz and weighs 80 kg. It measures 450 × 950 × 1200 mm (W × L × H) and is mounted on castors for easy repositioning within the laboratory. A LAN network connection is needed to use the VNC network report-sharing feature. No compressed air or special utilities are required — only a standard power outlet and an Ethernet connection.
