DPT/40 Digital Pull Off Tester

DPT/40 Digital Pull Off Strength Tester – For Concrete & Tile Adhesive Test

Our DPT/40 Digital Pull Off Tester is a unique instrument for adhesion and bond strength testing of all types of films, coatings, laminates, adhesives, metal plastic coatings, concrete coats, mortars, plasters, and other materials.

It is a portable, hand-operated instrument used to measure the force required to pull a specified test diameter of coating away from its substrate using hydraulic pressure. The pressure is displayed on a digital LCD and represents the coating's strength of adhesion to the substrate.

The tester evaluates the adhesion, or pull-off strength, of a coating by determining the greatest tensile pull-off force it can bear before detaching. Breaking points, demonstrated by fractured surfaces, occur along the weakest plane within the system consisting of the dolly, adhesive, coating layers, and substrate.

Concrete & Tile Bond Testing

Specifically suited for concrete compressive strength tests and bond strength evaluation of facing bricks and exterior wall tiles. Stores 500+ test results onboard and meets EN, BS, and ASTM international test standards.

The tester uses a manual hydraulic pump to apply a controlled tensile pull-off force to a test dolly bonded to the coating surface. The force required to detach the dolly is displayed on the digital LCD, measuring adhesion strength in accordance with ASTM D4541 and ISO 4624 standards.

The DPT/40 has a measuring range of 0–40.0 kN with a resolution of 0.001 kN and accuracy better than 1.0% (F.S). Results can be displayed in either kN or MPa — both units are customizable and adjustable on the instrument.

The DPT/40 is suited for both laboratory and field environments including construction sites, manufacturing facilities, quality control departments, and research institutions. Its compact and lightweight build makes it easy to carry and operate under demanding field conditions.

The standard dolly size is 20 mm. Optional dolly sizes of 10 mm and 14 mm are also available to accommodate different coating thicknesses and substrate types, allowing greater flexibility in testing various surface systems.

The DPT/40 is suitable for testing coatings, paints, laminates, adhesives, concrete, plasters, mortars, films, plastic coatings, and metal coatings — any surface material where adhesion or bond strength measurement is required.

The digital LCD display eliminates reading errors associated with analogue dial gauges, providing clear and precise results. The digital readout also allows for faster data recording and easier comparison across multiple tests.

The DPT/40 complies with a comprehensive set of international standards: EN 1542-1999, EN 1015-12, EN 1348, BS 1881-207, ASTM D 4541, ASTM C 1583, ASTM D 7234-05, and ASTM D 7522 — covering concrete, tile adhesive, mortar, and general coating adhesion testing requirements.

The aluminum test dolly is bonded to the prepared coating surface using the included epoxy adhesive. After curing, the dolly is attached to the instrument's coupling and hydraulic pressure is applied until the dolly detaches, recording the peak pull-off force.
