DPT/S Digital Pull Off Adhesion Tester
Our DPT/S Digital Pull Off Adhesion Tester is a unique instrument for adhesion and bond strength testing of all types of films, coatings, laminates, adhesives, metal plastic coatings, concrete coats, mortars, plasters, and other materials.
It is a portable, hand-operated instrument used to measure the force required to pull a specified test diameter of coating away from its substrate using hydraulic pressure. The pressure is displayed on a digital LCD and represents the coating's strength of adhesion to the substrate.
The tester evaluates the adhesion, or pull-off strength, of a coating by determining the greatest tensile pull-off force it can bear before detaching. Breaking points, demonstrated by fractured surfaces, occur along the weakest plane within the system consisting of the dolly, adhesive, coating layers, and substrate.

Key Highlights
Wide-Range Multi-Dolly System
Five dolly configurations — 10 mm, 14 mm, 20 mm (standard), 50 mm round, and 50 mm square — covering pull-off pressures from 0 to 100 MPa. The heavy-capacity 50 mm model extends to 70 MPa for demanding applications.
High-Precision Digital Display
Readings displayed on a clear digital LCD with 0.01 MPa (1 psi) resolution and ±1% full-scale accuracy. The instrument covers a full 0–10,000 psi range, making it suitable for both soft surface coatings and high-strength substrates.
Portable Field & Lab Use
Hand-operated hydraulic design with a built-in rechargeable lithium battery makes it self-sufficient for field use. Compliant with EN ISO 13433, ISO 4624, and ASTM D4541, it meets international QA and research requirements.
A test dolly is bonded to the prepared coating surface using adhesive. Once cured, the dolly is connected to the instrument and a hand-operated hydraulic pump applies a controlled tensile pull-off force. The peak force at detachment is displayed on the digital LCD, giving the adhesion strength in MPa or psi.
The DPT/S covers a range of 0–10,000 psi with a resolution of 0.01 MPa (1 psi) and accuracy of ±1% full scale. The maximum pull-off pressure depends on the dolly diameter used — from 0–3.2 MPa for the 50 mm dolly up to 0–100 MPa for the 10 mm dolly.
The standard dolly is 20 mm (DPT/20). Optional sizes include 10 mm (DPT/10), 14 mm (DPT/14), 50 mm round (DPT/50), and 50 mm square (DPT/50). The 50 mm heavy-capacity model also supports up to 70 MPa for demanding surface systems.
The DPT/S Digital Pull Off Adhesion Tester complies with EN ISO 13433, ISO 4624 (Paints and Varnishes — Pull-Off Test for Adhesion), and ASTM D4541 (Pull-Off Strength of Coatings), covering major international quality control and research standards.
The DPT/S is suitable for testing films, coatings, laminates, adhesives, metal plastic coatings, concrete coats, mortars, plasters, and any bonded surface material where adhesion or pull-off strength measurement is required.
The DPT/S is designed for both laboratory and on-site field testing, including construction sites, coating inspection, manufacturing QA, and research facilities. Its portable, battery-powered design supports testing without the need for an external power source.
Round dollies are the standard form used for most coating and adhesion tests. The square dolly variant for the 50 mm size is suited for specific test standards or substrates that require a square test geometry, such as certain tile adhesive or masonry bond strength tests.
Dolly selection depends on the expected adhesion strength range and the applicable test standard. Smaller dollies (10–14 mm) are used for high-strength coatings requiring up to 100 MPa, while larger dollies (50 mm) are used for softer or lower-strength substrates such as plasters or tile adhesives.
