FST/M Fiber Shrinkage Tester – Manual – Latest 2026

The FST/M Fiber Thermal Shrinkage Tester (Manual) is used to conduct thermal shrinkage testing of synthetic staple fibers including polyester, nylon, polypropylene, and other fiber types. It measures the length of each fiber on the sample cylinder using a camera, then automatically calculates average thermal shrinkage and coefficient of variation (CV).

The FST/M obtains the change in fiber length before and after thermal treatment, with a measuring range of 0~50% shrinkage and sample length accuracy of ±0.01mm. The testing process is monitored by a computer/HMI and test data are displayed automatically.

Built with a strong, rust-resistant body, compact design, and clear measurement scale, the FST/M offers easy operation with low maintenance. The FST/A is the fully automatic upgraded version that completes sample heating and testing without manual intervention.

Multi-Fiber Compatibility

Suitable for polyester, nylon, polypropylene, and other synthetic staple fibers. Compatible with 100mg/500mg fiber holder clips and an optional oven accessory for thermal shrinkage processing.

The FST/M is designed for thermal shrinkage testing of synthetic staple fibers including polyester fiber, nylon fiber, polypropylene fiber, and many other synthetic fiber types. It is suitable for any fiber that undergoes measurable dimensional change during thermal treatment, making it broadly applicable across the synthetic fiber industry.

The FST/M measures fiber shrinkage in the range of 0 to 50%, with a measuring error of ≤±0.1%. Sample length is measured with an accuracy of ±0.01mm. The gauge between the upper and lower clamps is set to 20mm±1mm. These high-accuracy values ensure reliable, repeatable results for quality control in fiber production.

The FST/M uses a camera to measure the length of each fiber on the sample cylinder. It records fiber length before and after thermal treatment, calculates the change in length, and then automatically computes the average thermal shrinkage percentage and coefficient of variation (CV) for the tested sample. The testing process is monitored by a computer/HMI with automatic data display.

The FST/M supports two optional accessories: Fiber Holder Clips available in 100mg and 500mg weights (customised, with a minimum order quantity of 50), and an Oven for the Thermal Shrinkage Process. These accessories allow the FST/M to be used as a complete thermal shrinkage testing system for synthetic fiber production and quality control laboratories.

The FST/M is the manual version of the Fiber Thermal Shrinkage Tester, requiring the operator to handle sample placement and thermal treatment. The FST/A is the automatic and upgraded version, adopting an optimized structure design and high-precision components that can complete sample heating and testing fully automatically without manual intervention — offering higher throughput for production environments.

The FST/M automatically calculates and displays the average thermal shrinkage percentage and coefficient of variation (CV) of the tested fiber sample. The testing process is monitored by a computer/HMI and all testing data are displayed automatically, eliminating manual calculations and reducing the risk of human error in fiber quality reporting.

The FST/M has dimensions of 400 × 400 × 1080mm (L × W × H) and weighs 75 kg. Its compact 400×400mm footprint makes it suitable for standard laboratory benches. It operates on AC 220V, 50Hz power supply and must be properly grounded for safe operation.

Yes. The FST/M operates on AC 220V, 50Hz power and must be grounded for safe operation. Proper grounding is essential to prevent electrical faults and ensure accurate measurement results, as grounding eliminates interference from stray electrical currents that could affect the precision camera-based measurement system.
