NFT701 NFPA 701-1 Flammability Tester

NFT701 NFPA 701-1 Flammability Tester – Latest

The NFT701 NFPA 701-1 Flammability Tester is designed to determine the ignition resistance properties of draperies and other hanging fabrics in accordance with test method NFPA 701 Test Method 1. It is suitable for single-layer or multi-layer fabrics, but not for fabrics with a density greater than 700 g/m² (21 oz/yd²).

The apparatus features an open-type burning chamber constructed from calcium silicate board wrapped in stainless steel, equipped with a Standard Maker laboratory burner and an auto-ignition mode to eliminate operator error during the test procedure.

With automatic burning time recording and a digital timer accurate to 0.1 second, the NFT701 delivers reliable and repeatable results for fabric flammability testing as required by NFPA 701-2004 Test Method 1.

Key Highlights

🔥
Auto-Ignition & Precision Timing

The auto-ignition mode eliminates operative error during flame application, while digital timer accuracy of 0.1 second and automatic burning time recording ensure repeatable and traceable test results as per NFPA 701-2004 Test Method 1.

🏗️
Robust Calcium Silicate Chamber

The open-type burning chamber is constructed from calcium silicate board and wrapped with a stainless steel exterior — providing excellent thermal insulation, durability, and resistance to high-temperature combustion conditions during repeated test cycles.

Purpose-Built for Drapery & Hanging Fabrics

Specifically engineered for single-layer and multi-layer drapery fabrics up to 700 g/m² (21 oz/yd²). Supplied with a standard specimen holder and a Standard Maker laboratory burner, it is ready for immediate NFPA 701-1 compliance testing.

The NFT701 is used to determine the ignition resistance properties of draperies and other hanging fabrics according to NFPA 701 Test Method 1. It tests single-layer or multi-layer fabrics with a density up to 700 g/m² (21 oz/yd²), making it essential for curtain, drape, and window treatment manufacturers requiring fire safety certification.

The NFT701 is suitable for single-layer and multi-layer fabrics used as draperies or other hanging textile applications. It is not intended for fabrics with a density greater than 700 g/m² (21 oz/yd²). Typical materials include decorative curtains, theatre drapes, and partition fabrics used in public and commercial spaces.

The auto-ignition mode automatically initiates the burner flame at the correct moment without manual intervention. This eliminates the risk of operative error during flame application — a critical requirement in NFPA 701 testing where precise ignition timing directly impacts test validity and result reproducibility.

The NFT701 features a digital timer with accuracy up to 0.1 second, and burning time is recorded automatically. This level of precision is essential for compliance with NFPA 701-2004 Test Method 1, where afterflame and char measurement timing must be controlled and documented accurately.

The NFT701's open-type burning chamber is built with a calcium silicate board body and wrapped with a stainless steel external casing. Calcium silicate provides excellent heat resistance and low thermal conductivity, while the stainless steel wrap ensures structural rigidity and long-term durability in a laboratory environment.

The NFT701 complies with NFPA 701-2004 Test Method 1, the standard test method for flame propagation of textiles and films. This standard is widely specified for draperies and hanging fabrics in public buildings, theatres, hotels, and other commercial interiors where fire safety code compliance is mandatory.

The NFT701 operates on 220/110 V, 50/60 Hz and measures 900 × 510 × 720 mm (L × W × H) with a weight of 80 Kg. Its compact benchtop footprint makes it suitable for most standard laboratory spaces without requiring dedicated floor area.

Yes, the NFT701 is supplied with a standard specimen holder as part of the complete system. The holder is designed to support fabric specimens in the correct vertical orientation required by NFPA 701 Test Method 1, ensuring consistent specimen positioning across all test runs.
