XWT/T Air-Cooled Xenon Arc Tester Table Top

XWT/T Air-Cooled Xenon Arc Tester (Table Top)

The XWT/T uses a high-power 1800W air-cooled xenon arc lamp to reproduce the full spectrum of natural sunlight — from UV through visible to near-infrared — reaching the ground. Combined with programmable temperature control and a water spray system, it delivers comprehensive weathering simulation for textiles, leather, plastics, rubber, paints, and dyestuffs in a compact table-top footprint.

Unlike UV fluorescent lamps that only replicate the UV portion of sunlight, a xenon arc lamp closely matches the full spectral power distribution of solar radiation. The XWT/T gives laboratories the ability to simulate real-world outdoor exposure conditions — including direct sunlight behind glass — with greater spectral fidelity than any single-band lamp technology.

Featuring a 7-inch colour touch panel, modular construction for high anti-interference stability, and four independently programmable test modes (light, light & spray, dark, dark & spray), the XWT/T offers flexible, reproducible accelerated weathering in a benchtop-sized instrument suited to both R&D and quality-control laboratories.

Key Highlights

☀️
Air-Cooled 1800W Xenon Arc Lamp — Full Spectrum Solar Simulation

The 1800W xenon arc lamp produces a continuous spectral output from UV through visible to near-infrared — the closest laboratory simulation of natural sunlight. Irradiance is monitored and regulated across the full operating range (0.3–2.01 W/(m²·nm)) to deliver consistent, reproducible results throughout the 800–1000-hour lamp service life.

🔄
4 Programmable Test Modes — Light, Spray, Dark & Combination

Four independently programmable test modes — Light, Light & Water Spray, Dark, and Dark & Water Spray — allow the XWT/T to replicate a wide range of real-world weathering scenarios including direct sunlight, rain, night-time condensation, and combined thermal-moisture stress. Cycles can be sequenced automatically for unattended multi-phase testing.

🖥️
7-Inch Colour Touch Panel with BST Temperature Control

The 7-inch colour touch panel provides clear, real-time visibility of all operating parameters — irradiance, chamber temperature, BST (Black Standard Thermometer) temperature, and spray cycles. Modular design with high anti-interference circuitry ensures stable readings and precise closed-loop BST control across the full (35–100)°C ± 2°C range.

The XWT/T simulates the full spectral profile of natural sunlight — from UV through visible to near-infrared — using a high-power xenon arc lamp. It reproduces the three primary outdoor degradation mechanisms: solar radiation, elevated temperature, and moisture (rain and condensation). By running materials through accelerated light, spray, and dark cycles, the instrument compresses months or years of outdoor exposure into days or weeks of laboratory testing.

A xenon arc lamp produces a broad continuous spectrum closely matching natural sunlight from UV through visible to near-infrared, making it the preferred technology when full-spectrum fidelity is required — particularly for coatings, automotive parts, and colour-critical applications. UV fluorescent testers (such as the AWT/UV) emit only in the UV range, which is more aggressive and suited to applications where maximum UV acceleration matters most. For standards specifying xenon exposure (ISO 4892-2, ASTM G155, SAE J2527), the XWT/T is the correct instrument.

The XWT/T supports four programmable test modes: Light (xenon lamp only); Light & Water Spray (simulates rain during daylight); Dark (lamp off — simulates night-time); and Dark & Water Spray (simulates night-time condensation). These modes can be sequenced in programmable cycles to match the specific requirements of a test standard, such as the alternating light–dark–spray cycles specified in ISO 4892-2 and ASTM G155.

The XWT/T is supplied with 8 sample racks sized 240×55mm and 1 sample rack sized 110×50mm. All sample positions are exposed simultaneously to the same irradiance, temperature, and spray conditions. Cover plates (1/2 cover and 1/3 cover, 9 pcs each) are included to mask unused rack positions and maintain consistent exposure across all specimens during testing.

The XWT/T is designed to comply with ISO 4892-2, ISO 105-B02, ISO 105-B06, ASTM G155, ASTM D2565, ASTM D4355, ASTM D3424, SAE J2527, and EN ISO 4892-2. This covers weathering tests for plastics, textiles, paints and coatings, automotive exterior and interior materials, packaging, and rubber — making the XWT/T suitable for a broad range of industries and export markets.

BST stands for Black Standard Thermometer — a sensor designed to measure the surface temperature of a dark-coloured specimen under irradiation, representing the worst-case thermal condition a material experiences in service. The XWT/T controls BST temperature in the range (35–100)°C ± 2°C, ensuring that the thermal component of the weathering cycle is precisely reproduced. This is critical for correlating accelerated test results with outdoor exposure data.

The XWT/T is widely used in the automotive industry (interior trim, exterior coatings, plastics), textiles and apparel (colour fastness, fade resistance), paints and coatings, rubber and polymer manufacturing, packaging (label inks, adhesive tapes), leather goods, and building materials. Any product that must demonstrate resistance to solar radiation and outdoor exposure for certification or quality-assurance purposes benefits from xenon arc weathering qualification.

The XWT/T requires an AC 380V, 50Hz, 3-phase power supply. It weighs 145 kg and measures 961×810×725mm (L×W×H), making it compact enough to sit on a laboratory bench or sturdy table. A water supply connection and drainage are required for the spray system. The operating environment should be maintained at 20±2°C with relative humidity between 40% and 80%.
